Want to know where King John is set? Shakespeare’s King John play is set in  thirteenth century England during the reign of King John, although in actual history the events depicted occurred a century later. The action takes place in rural England and Angier in France – in palaces and on battlefields. It is interesting that looking at the play in the 21st century it’s quite postmodern in that it presents history and what have always seemed its significant events as haphazard mistakes and inconsequential, random actions.
